The Aerial Way addresses the impending urban mobility issues in the context of Sao Paulo, proposing innovative transport and smart management systems accessible to all. The project organises a new logistic “layer” suspended above the city following real time data flows. This responsive mobility system allows to free space for public engagement, as well as resolving issues related to disconnectivity in the urban layering.
Roads in São Paulo are completely saturated. There is no space for more cars since traffic jams are constant and both private cars and public transport are not working properly. CEAGESP is one of the most problematic points in the city, suffering mobility problems and urban congestion due to the traffic in the highway, and the trucks and vans coming daily to the complex to sell and buy products.
Enabling air delivery while simultaneously suppressing ground traffic holds immense potential for transforming urban landscapes and enhancing logistical efficiency. With the growing challenges of congested roadways, integrating air delivery systems allows for faster and more direct transportation of goods. This not only accelerates the delivery process but also mitigates the environmental impact associated with traditional ground transportation. By shifting a portion of the delivery network to the air, we reduce traffic congestion, decrease fuel consumption, and lower carbon emissions, contributing to a more sustainable and eco-friendly urban environment.
The benefits extend beyond environmental considerations to encompass improved accessibility and convenience. Air delivery provides a swift and direct route to deliver goods, overcoming the limitations posed by ground infrastructure, such as traffic jams and road closures. This efficiency becomes particularly crucial in emergencies or time-sensitive situations, where rapid delivery can make a significant difference. Additionally, the reduction of ground traffic opens up opportunities for urban spaces to be repurposed for recreational areas or green spaces, contributing to a more livable and aesthetically pleasing urban landscape. As we embrace the integration of air delivery, we not only streamline logistics but also pave the way for smarter and more sustainable urban planning.
